Bottled Glacier Water

There are many different types of bottled water out there, including bottled glacier water. Much of the water characterized as glacier water comes from areas of the world such as Alaska and Canada where glaciers can be found. There are certain regulations such as in Alaska, where the term glacier water can only be used if the water comes from a glacier that is naturally melting or the melting of glacial ice at a bottled water manufacturing facility. There may be some confusion when searching for glacier water as there is a brand and company called Glacier that sells water dispensing machines.

Since 1983, the Glacier Water Company has provided water vending machines to locations everywhere. Currently there are more than 15,000 of these machines in the United States. There are two choices for vendors seeking to purchase one of these machines. You can get an outdoor machine or an indoor machine. The outdoor machine is made to withstand the elements and looks like a traditional soft drink dispensing machine. The indoor machine offers the standard filtration but also makes it possible for customers to use their own containers. Many retailers will provide containers for their customers beside the vending machine.

The water provided by Glacier machines goes through a sophisticated filtration system to ensure the water is safe, healthy and tastes great. First, the water travels through a carbon filter which removes odors and chlorine. Next, it goes through what is called a micron filter. This filter removes elements like rust and dirt. After that, the water is treated with ultraviolet light. It is then treated with reverse osmosis to remove impurities, lead and salt. A post carbon filter and another ultraviolet light is then used before the water is completely purified for drinking.

Whether you choose bottled glacier water from an actual glacier, water from a Glacier machine, or another type of water such as mineral water or tap water, the important thing is that you're getting enough clean, pure water. Water is essential to health, as living creatures cannot survive without it. Even mild dehydration can lead to noticeable effects like fatigue and and dry skin. How much water you should drink depends on your level of activity and body size. Anywhere between six and eight eight-ounce cups of water per day should be sufficient for most adults.
