Spring Bottled Water
![]() |
If you are shopping for bottled water, you may want to consider spring bottled water. Spring water comes from an underground water source and must be bottled at the source or very close to it. There are many different types of spring water produced all over the world. Some people say they can tell the difference between different types of spring water, while others say all water tastes alike. Sometimes the difference in taste between water depends on the mineral content. Spring water often contains natural minerals such as silica, magnesium and sodium.
One advantage of bottled water is how convenient it is to use. You can find many different sized bottles in stores to meet every need. Eight ounce bottles are great for kids and people on the go who don't want to lug a big bottle. Sixteen ounce bottles give you two servings in one bottle and are still very portable. Larger sizes are ideal for families to keep in the refrigerator. You can also find convenient squeeze bottle styles that let you open and close your water without dealing with losing the top. One thing you should never do is reuse a plastic water bottle more than once or twice as harmful bacteria can form and the plastic can break down.
The bottled water industry is booming and shows no sign of slowing down. It's estimated that in 2006 alone, $10 billion worth of bottled water was sold. While it's true that most municipal water sources are just as safe as bottled water brands and may even be the same thing in some cases, people still love bottled water. Spring water has the distinction of coming from deep within the earth from a natural underground source that may impart the water with certain qualities attractive to the consumer.
Spring bottled water is available from many different companies. Poland Spring is made by Nestle and is bottled at the source in Maine. Eldorado spring water hails from Colorado, while Canadian Springs water comes from Canada. Mountain Valley spring water is another popular example that is bottled in Arkansas. There are many different types of spring water available from many different companies around the world from which you can choose. If you don't already have a favorite brand, taste several to find out which one you like best.
